Vladimir Putin just launched a major blitz targeting Ukraine’s capital city Kyiv in one of the war’s heaviest airstrikes, leaving at least 14 people injured. The Russian forces unleashed a whopping 250 drones and 14 missiles in one of the most massive combined aerial attacks seen so far. Heavy fire lit up the sky in Kyiv after the attack, with explosions from drones adding to the chaos.
Massive fires raged on after the intense blitz, with smoke billowing from civilian buildings into Ukraine’s night sky. One fire broke out in apartments on the third and fourth floors of a five-story residential building in the Solomianskyi district. The debris from intercepted missiles and drones fell in at least four city districts of the Ukrainian capital early Saturday, according to acting head of Kyiv military administration Tymur Tkachenko. Tkachenko also mentioned that six people needed medical care post-attack, and two fires were ignited in the Solomianskyi district of Kyiv.
The State Emergency Service stated, “Information on possible casualties is being confirmed.” This air blitz came right after Russia and Ukraine initiated a significant prisoner exchange, swapping hundreds of soldiers and civilians.
