A mother and her three children who died in a tragic house fire in Stonebridge, Brent, have been identified by the Metropolitan Police. The victims were named as Nusrat Usman, aged 43, her daughter Maryam Mikaiel, aged 15, and her two sons Musa Usman, aged eight, and Raees Usman, aged four. The devastating incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning, leaving the community in shock and mourning.
The authorities were alerted to the fire at Tillett Close around 01:20 BST on Saturday, prompting a swift response from eight fire engines and approximately 70 firefighters from neighboring stations. Despite their efforts, the fire had already engulfed two terraced homes by the time they arrived. Tragically, a woman and child were rescued from one of the properties but were declared deceased at the scene. Two more children were discovered inside the house, also succumbing to the flames. The London Fire Brigade described the fire as “well-developed,” underscoring the challenges faced by the responding crews.
Neighbors shared their grief and disbelief at the loss of the family, who had immigrated from Pakistan over two decades ago. One resident recounted hearing screams and seeing the blazing inferno, while another described the victims as “really good people.” The tight-knit community of Stonebridge was left reeling from the devastation, with many expressing numbness and shock at the tragic event.
