A train just went and hit a tractor and trailer on a level crossing in Herefordshire. This caused the rail services to come to a stop. The train didn’t derail, but there were 56 passengers on board the Manchester-to-Cardiff train, and some of them got minor injuries. British Transport Police (BTP) said that six people are getting checked out by medics, but none of them seem to be too serious, including both drivers.
What Happened at the Scene
Ambulance crews rushed over to Nordan Farm in Leominster right after 10:45 BST. They brought in the air ambulance, land ambulances, and paramedics to help out. Transport for Wales (TfW) mentioned that services had to be halted after the 08:30 train from Manchester Piccadilly hit the vehicle on a crossing between Ludlow and Leominster. National Rail added that all lines were blocked between Hereford and Craven Arms, and services between those stations were either canceled or changed. Disruption was expected to last until 19:00. A TfW spokeswoman advised folks to double-check before traveling and assured them that tickets would be accepted by other operators.
Investigation Ongoing
BTP revealed that its officers were present at the scene, together with others from West Mercia Police and fire crews. A police spokesperson mentioned that they were still looking into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
